The short answer: about 8–10 feet
A hibachi chef needs roughly an 8 to 10 foot area for the grill and to work safely, on any flat, stable surface. That's it — no special hookups, since the grill is self-contained.
Best outdoor spots
Backyards and patios are the most popular. A driveway or an open garage works great too, and gives you shade and a weather backup. All you need is a level surface with a little clearance around it.
Cooking indoors
Indoor setups are fine as long as there's good ventilation — think open windows, a range hood, or a spot near a door. High-ceilinged, airy rooms are ideal. We'll talk through the specifics when we plan your event so the space is comfortable.
A little clearance and safety
Keep some open space around the grill and a clear path for the chef. During the flame tricks, guests (especially kids) hang back a few feet — the chef will guide everyone. It's all part of the show.
Not sure your space works?
Just ask. We confirm your setup when we plan the event, so if you're unsure whether your backyard, patio, or indoor spot will work, tell us about it and we'll let you know.
